12 Watt Dimmable Philips LED is the Gold Standard,
April 10, 2012
By RRmerlin
"In this quickly changing environment of LED product development, a bulb may come along next week that will please me even more than the Philips 12 Watt dimmable bulb does.
But for now, this bulb is King. I have waited for years for just such a bulb. It may look a little odd, which only matters if you can see the top of it peeking out over a small light fixture, but once you switch it on, this bulb does what it claims.
The light is tremendous for a 60 watt equivalent, good colour, excellent dimmability with a very basic dimmer, and it doesn't appear to throw off too much heat (although the base is quite warm if you try to unscrew it immediately after use for any reason).
Well done Philips. Keep it up, and now, go develop a 100 Watt equivalent, please. No rest for the corporate wicked.
Tom, Ottawa."

Great bulb!!!,
January 30, 2012
By Kingsley
"This Philips LED bulb, is probably one of the better LED light bulbs on the market.
The Mrs. and I nicknamed it the "lemon drop bulb" because of the aesthetic look.
If you're looking for an energy efficient "soft white/yellow" coloured bulb, I highly recommend this one. They're very bright, efficient, and look great if placed in the proper room.
Want to save more power, and still have a bulb with relatively high brightness? Great news! There is also an 8W version available."

"This is a great light. Looks the same as incandescent bulbs. Very bright, even brighter than 60W incandescent! Colour and brightness are beyond expectations.
The bulb shape is a bit odd, but you get used to it."

A true 60W replacement,
October 18, 2011
By WCNorth
from Timmins, ON
"Purchased one of these initially and found it looks just like incandescent light - then I bought 6 more for other lights. I'm sure the price will drop as time goes on but we're all in it for the long haul - I'd rather pay up front and invest in the bulbs than pay HYDRO as the price steadily rises."

led standard fixture dimmable bulb,
April 7, 2011
By david0987654321

"Is slightly brighter than a regular 60w bulb. the light is pleasing to the eye, there is no mercury pollution, lasts 15 years, no emf radiation and it only uses 12.5w! This is a win win situation."

Fantastic 60W replacement bulb,
March 2, 2011
By SirLamer
"Two of the biggest challenges with finding a good LED bulb are the light output and the color temperature. Most LED replacement bulbs claim to be "equivalent" to some wattage incandescent bulb but clearly produce much less light than the incumbent. Also, they typically produce a very white light, which many people find unpleasant. Finally, many LED bulbs have a very focused coverage area due to the requirement of packing the solid state electronics in behind the luminescent portion.
This bulb overcomes all of these problems. The light output is superb, seemingly putting out a bit more light than my incandescents. The color temperature is nearly identical to an incandescent bulb. The area of coverage is very similar to a traditional round bulb.
The most significant trade-off is the bulb's untraditional appearance. It's not necessarily ugly, but it is not what people are used to and I find most people find this to be discouraging. When it's off, the bulb surface is a bright yellow that stands out. There are also separations in the bulb that have a slight shadowing effect when the bulb is on. If installed behind any typical diffuser surface, this is not a problem.
This is the big test that matters: I have one of these installed in one wall lamp. I have asked a few guests if they notice anything odd about the light, and so far no one has.
The bulb is expensive to purchase, but over its operational life it will end up being much less expensive than buying and running the multiple bulbs, either incandescent or CFL, that would otherwise take its place. I plan to replace all of my incandescents with these."
