Good product,

"I installed this on my deck recently. The surface of the deck looks much nicer without nail or screw heads visible.
I have some fancier cuts on the surface of my deck, including a track around the perimeter of 3 2x6s, which required a lot of extra fastener strips.
The strips are fairly soft, so you have to be careful not to pull your screws all the way through the strip.
Where you cut the strips, the cut edges rust if you don't treat them with something.
Because the screws go through the fastener strips at angles, your deck boards will often pull in the direction of your first screw, so take that into consideration when attaching the surface boards.
Overall, a good product, but it did end up costing me more than I wanted to spend, due to the extra track required."

Solid and easy to install - DOES NOT RUST,

"I have installed these fasteners for my two decks. They are very easily installed and may be cut with wiz scissors at the desired length. They hold the wood in place. The decks look very good without nails on the top. I have one deck at about eight inches off the ground and another at six feet. There isn`t any rust anywhere. I have even installed them for the footsteps."

Peak Hidden Deck,
April 29, 2008
By Mike01
"I used the painted Peak deck hardware to install my deck 4 years ago. I live in Anacortes, WA about 2 miles from Puget Sound (purchased at Home Depot in Surrey when the US dollar was still strong). The hardware was easy to install and looked great. My deck was located 8 feet off the ground so it was easy to get underneath. This winter I noticed rust marks starting to form under the braces. I removed a couple of the braces and they are almost completely rusted away. I used stainless steel nails and screws to install the braces and the stainless was in perfect shape. My decking is made out of the newer treated lumber and I was warned about increased corrosion issues with the materials used in the new treating process. Right now I plan to remove the braces and replace with a similar product made out of stainless steel braces. Good news is that it is possible to remove the braces from the bottom without having to remove all the decking.
Lesson learned is do not cheap out - use stainless steel the first time."
