Cub Cadet Cub Cadet 17 In. Curved Shaft Gas Trimmer

The Cub Cadet 26cc, 4-cycle, curve shaft trimmer is designed for people who demand premium residential lawn equipment. The 4-cycle engine, with cast iron cylinder sleeves, is the greener, quieter, and more powerful cousin of the industry standard 2-cycle engine. It offers more torque at lower RPMs and also improves convenience by eliminating the need to mix gas and oil. The SwiftStartTM spring-assisted starting system reduces operator effort when pulling the starter rope. The “no choke” starting system allows the operator to simply prime the engine and pull the starter rope. The split boom shaft allows for easy attachment utilization. The Time Saver head with .105” diameter line, allows user to simply insert a pre-cut piece of line into the head. There is nothing to take apart when changing or winding line. 3-year limited warranty

Cub Cadet Trimmer a Great Disappointment,
July 1, 2011
from Chatham-Kent, Ontario
" I was given this gas trimmer for Father's Day, something that had been on my wish list for a year, and I had great expectations. I also look after two church yards and dragging 200' of cord for my electric trimmer was a chore, so I thought this would make things easier.
Firstly, it was not hard to assemble coming out of the box. That I have no problem saying.
I then test drove the Cadet trimmer for an hour around our property and gardens, and my great expectations were dashed.
There was no shoulder strap provided with the basic package so you use your arms more than expected. The balance was odd, and my back began to hurt fairly quickly. The handle is set for a right-handed person, but I did switch back and forth a few times to lessen the strain. A lefty might have real problems, but you could reverse the installation instructions.
The trimmer wouldn't cut grass (!) unless you cut it right at the surface; any other location and the grass was only bent. Thus lawn was ripped to pieces, exposing dirt. Set at right angles for edging it would shred everything in sight except the grass along the edge of the gardens. And forget trying to trim or edge along the sidewalk; no luck there either. In either position - trimming or edging - it did not matter if you cut from right to left or left to right - nothing worked. It will slash a clump of heavy weeds but I just couldn't get it to trim grass!
I am taking the trimmer back to Home Depot this weekend. I will stick with my 12-year-old electric trimmer - it's worn out but it still does a good job.
I have been cutting grass for about 55 years now. Sorry people, I cannot recommend this gas trimmer at all. It's too much money for so little result. "

" This is the best snipper I've ever owned. It's easy to start and easy to handle. It does a nice neat trim. No 'chewed off' look. Easy to snip in tight places.
A must to buy if you're looking for a great new whipper snipper.

Very Good Trimmer,
May 5, 2009
from La Prairie, QC
" Very good trimmer. The 4 cycles engine is easily started.
To start it, it's 2 pull when cold and only 1 pull when engine is hot.
The engine has a lot of power but is easy on gas. After having one electric trimmer that the motor burned, 1 gas trimmer ( weed eater feather light ) that I threw in the garbage because the engine would never ever start, I can say that this is the best trimmer ever. On the plus side, there is no oil-gas mix to handle and no blue smoke coming out of the exhaust like the 2-cycles engine.
